Art of the Loom Fabrics

Art of the Loom have been a family run business in the North of England for seven generations and are most known for their checks, tweeds and floral fabrics in wools and linens. They have over thirty collections that are used for upholstery, curtains, cushions and more. They also offer a collection of Harris Tweed fabrics, perfect for any country-chic. The quality of their fabrics are really great and the choice of fabrics is extensive. The British made fabrics are woven using only 100% natural fibres such as wool, linen, cotton and viscose.

I really love the fish print fabric in that last image so let me show you that collection in more detail.

Art of the Loom Country Pursuits Collection

I love this Art of the Loom Country Pursuits collection which features Gamebirds, River Fish, Working Dogs and Highland Herd. They are really unusual and give a really quirky twist to any country interior design project. Perfect for the person in your life who loves fishing or hunting as a past-time. It’s always nice to work on a project for a customer that has some personality of the customer coming though in the design.

Ralph Lauren Fabrics for Curtains Blinds and Upholstery

Good afternoon everyone,

Its the time of year again when lots of people are thinking about where to go on holiday if they haven’t booked already. Sophie Sews has used lots of Designers Guild fabrics and I was looking through some of their fabric sample books. The new Ralph Lauren fabrics remind me of hot sunny days on holiday in France. So I would like to show you  some Ralph Lauren Fabrics for Curtains Binds and Upholstery to remind us all of those wonderful summer days to come.

Ralph Lauren Fabrics for Curtains Blinds and Upholstery

The new Ralph Lauren fabric collection that reminds me of summer holidays is called Sur La Cote. Designers Guild describe the collection as “The charismatic Riviera expressed through both prints and weaves.” The collection was inspired by Mediterranean waterside towns and villages which incorporate graphic prints and nautical motifs in classic maritime colours.

I’m going to tell you a little bit about the company and then I’m going to show you some of my favourite collections of theirs. James Hare has been established since 1865 so they are a bit of a tradition in this country. In the 1910’s James Hare became a cloth manufacturing mill and the biggest stockist of Harris Tweed in the world. Their factory was known as the ‘Cloth Headquarters of the British Isles’, it was the largest textile distribution house in Great Britain. In the 1930’s they boasted that if a London tailor placed an order at 9am, by 9.10am the material would be on its way to the train station!

In the 1980’s the woollen manufacturing firm was sold, along with the brand “Hare of England” and the company re established itself as a silk merchant becoming the leading supplier of the bridal and fashion trade. Today, James Hare is Britain’s leading silk specialist and produces luxury textiles for the fashion and interiors industries. They are favourites with leading designers and decorators, James Hare’s fabrics are famous worldwide.

Now on to my favourite part, the beautiful fabrics and wallcoverings!

James Hare Pimlico Interiors Collection

The Pimlico collection is a modern take on classic styles, traditional fabrics are given a modern twist ensuring the look is sophisticated and chic.  I absolutely love these pastel colours, they are so feminine and sweet. These are great inspiration for a girl’s bedroom.

James Hare Evolution Interiors Collection

This is one of their new collections, drawing inspiration from a range of eras in James Hare’s history. A combination of classic and modern looks, these fabrics are ideal for curtains, bed-heads, blinds and other decorative detailing. I love the textures of these fabrics and also the way the light reflects off, absolutely stunning.

 James Hare Silk Wallcoverings

Now as James Hare are famous for silk I’d like to show you some of their lovely silk wallcoverings. They have natural texture and intense depths of colour and have over 500 plain colours, as well as woven and embroidered patterns. They are great for creating a dramatic feature wall and I think they give a luxurious, expensive look to a room.
